ONE.LIFE – Live life with intention

August 2, 2010

A big shout-out to Shalane Hopkins and Alex Ward over at ONE.LIFE. They’ll be doing the Te Araroa starting in mid-October, so they’ll be heading off a couple of weeks before me. I emailed Sharlane for some advice the other day and she has been very helpful, so I wish her and Alex the very best on their adventure.

What makes their attempt really special, is that they are raising funds for the Indigo Foundation. A little about this cause;

[Indigo Foundation] is an small independent Australian community development organisation, providing effective and innovative assistance in public health & education to improve the lives of people in marginalised communities around the world.

I’ll be sure to send a few dollars their way. Education and public health; two of the most basic human rights people.

What really touched me with the philosophy of ONE.LIFE is the message sub-title holds. “Live life with intention. Live as though this is all there is.” This is how life should be. Life shouldn’t be taken for granted. It could end at any time. I am of the belief that this is the only life we’ll have, and there are stacks of things I wish to do during it. I intend to, and that’s why I am doing the Te Araroa.

Education and health care give people the basics to pursue their dreams, and realise their potential. Kudos.
